The North Carolina Apple Festival is held annually over Labor Day Weekend in Hendersonville, North Carolina. It has been going on since the 1950’s.

The four days of fun including one of the most best known Street Fairs in the south. From apples, the arts, and amazing street food, oh don’t forget the entertainment at the Historic Courthouse on Hendersonville’s Beautiful Main Street.

Why an Apple Festival? IWith an estimated 200 apple growers in Henderson County. North Carolina is the 7th largest apple-producing state in the nation and Henderson County grows 65% of all apples in North Carolina.t is also one of the most important agricultural crops grown in Henderson County. With an average income of $22 million dollars a year. Growing apples has been part of Henderson County’s culture and heritage since the 1700’s.

The North Carolina Apple Festival will have  15 local apple growers in the Street Fair. You can purchase a few apples or bushels of fresh locally grown apples. Different growers will also have items such as fried apple pies, apple cakes, apple butter and apple cider at the Festival.

Downtown Hendersonville, NC is located only a couple of miles off of I-26.  Coming from the Asheville area, take I-26 from the intersection of I-40 and drive 18 miles and then take Exit 49B. From the Upstate of South Carolina, travel I-26 up the mountain and take Exit 53. We are about 40 miles from the Greenville Spartanburg Airport.

There are multiple parking lots throughout downtown Hendersonville that surrounds the Festival including free and fee-based parking. Many parking lots are operated by local non-profits and charge a nominal fee for parking. The North Carolina Apple Festival does not control these parking lots or their fees.

Shuttle – The Festival does not offer a shuttle. However, there is a private Shuttle Service that serves the Festival Friday through Sunday. The pickup point is at Jackson Park (look for the signs). The drop off location will be at South Main Street. Take note of the drop off location as you leave the trolley as it is a different location than in previous years. Elite Limousine will be operating a shuttle service from Jackson Park to the Festival beginning at 10:00am and running until 8:00 on Friday through Sunday. There is no Monday shuttle service.

Handicap Information:

 

Handicapped Parking, based on availability, will be on Saturday and Sunday in the City Hall Parking Lot. You can enter off of 6th Avenue East or King Street. On Friday and Monday, there are handicapped parking spaces available in all of the City’s parking lots.
